How to Set Up a Kindroid Group Journal for One Group Chat

To set up a Kindroid Group journal, open the intended group's settings, choose Journal > Group, and save a fictional entry with a distinctive keyphrase. Mention that phrase in your own group message, then inspect the reply's recalled journals. Confirm the saved scope separately; group-only journal recall is not complete memory isolation.

Before starting: eligibility, privacy and cost

Use an existing paid account with group-chat access. The official Groupchats guide identifies group chat as subscriber-only. This walkthrough does not require buying a plan, upgrading memory, adding photos or starting a call.

Kindroid's terms and privacy policy require users to be at least 18 or their jurisdiction's age of majority, whichever is greater. If ineligible, stop. Keep every example fictional: no relationship records, identifying information, credentials or another person's private details.

Official documents checked November 1, 2026, Asia/Shanghai. No signed-in setup, save or recall test was performed. Expected results below are checkpoints for your attempt, not observations from our account. No current price is quoted. If a checkout appears, stop; a purchase is outside this procedure.

Before composing, note the intended group, fictional fact, trigger phrase, saved location and retrieval evidence. Keep this checklist free of account identifiers.

1. Select or create the intended group

Open your existing group. If you need a new one, the Groupchats guide documents + > New group chat in the chat list, followed by choosing Kindroids and naming/configuring the group.

Use existing fictional adult Kins and a recognizable name, such as Lantern Observatory. Expected result: the header identifies your intended destination. If not, return to the group list before writing.

2. Open Journal and confirm Group, not Global

The October 28 update gives this route: tap the group name at the top, or the desktop gear, then choose Journal > Group. Confirm the selected tab before creating anything.

The Global tab is a different destination. Do not infer scope from an entry title or from being inside a group conversation. Expected result: you can identify both the intended group's settings and the Group tab. If the documented route is absent, stop rather than guessing that another journal is equivalent.

3. Create one short fictional entry

Open the journal's + creation control. Use a text-only entry and one distinctive keyphrase. The Memory guide specifies 20-500 characters per text entry and up to eight case-insensitive keyphrases; this exercise needs only one.

Original example entry: At Lantern Observatory, the adult astronomy club keeps its spare brass telescope key in the green cabinet beside the west window. Original keyphrase: lantern brass key. These are editorial examples, not Kindroid templates or tested prompts.

Enter the phrase in the keyphrase field and the fact in the entry text. Use the visible save control; this guide does not establish a universal save-button label. Expected result: one entry appears in the selected Group journal. Do not add a duplicate if you are unsure whether the first save completed.

4. Reopen the entry before testing recall

Leave the editor, reopen this group's Journal > Group, and inspect the saved entry. Compare its text and keyphrase with your checklist before sending a test message.

Check the fact and phrase for mistakes. Expected result: the saved destination and content are inspectable. A plausible later answer cannot establish where you saved the entry.

If you saved in the wrong scope, stop the test and correct the destination using controls you can identify. Do not assume an undocumented move command. Preserve your harmless example offline while resolving the mistake.

5. Trigger the entry without supplying its answer

Send this user message in the selected group: For lantern brass key, where is the spare key kept? Matching uses your messages, not AI messages, and is case-insensitive. For this check, type your chosen keyphrase exactly as saved.

Keep 'green cabinet' and 'west window' out of the question. Otherwise the response could simply repeat information you just provided. Expected result to look for: a reply naming the cabinet and its location. Record the actual answer, including omissions, without correcting it before the next inspection.

6. Inspect retrieval separately from answer accuracy

Tap the reply, choose Long term memory, then inspect Journal. The Memory guide identifies recalled Group entries with a group icon. Look for your saved entry, not merely a convincing answer.

Record two separate observations: 'entry shown in recalled journals: yes/no/unclear' and 'answer matches saved fact: yes/no/partial.' Expected result: you can distinguish retrieval evidence from generated wording. A listed entry with an incorrect answer is not a successful answer check; a correct answer without inspectable retrieval leaves the retrieval check unresolved.

If missing, recheck the saved scope and exact user-message phrase, then try one corrected question. This one-retry limit is our troubleshooting recommendation, not a product quota. Do not reset history, mass-delete entries or buy an upgrade to make the check pass.

Limits: recall allocation is not a privacy wall

The October 28 update restricts Group journal recall to that group and its group calls, excluding solo chats, Rooms and other groups. It also gives Group journals recall allocation independent of individual and Global journals.

Per-message recall is tier-limited; consult Profile > Billing's Pricing matrix. Matching entries compete within their allocation. Keep this exercise to one targeted phrase.

Separately, group conversation can form individual long-term memories and update Learned Context. Share Short Term Memory enables recent-context sharing between group and individual chats. Inspect Memory Formation, Update Individual Learned Context and Share Short Term Memory in group settings before broader use; individual Kin settings also affect formation and Learned Context updates.

Those separate paths are documented in Groupchats. A fact repeated in chat is not protected by the journal's scope label. Avoid sensitive material rather than treating this setup as a confidentiality or erasure guarantee.

Conclusion: finish with one inspectable result

Stop successfully when you can reopen the correct Group entry, identify its retrieval marker on a reply, and separately assess the answer. Keep that single fictional entry before expanding the journal.

Stop unresolved if controls differ, saving is uncertain, payment is requested or one corrected attempt still lacks clear retrieval evidence. Ask official support at hello@kindroid.ai with the client, missing control and redacted description; omit credentials and private transcripts. Leave unresolved checks marked unresolved.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I open the Group tab for a Kindroid group journal?

Open the intended group's settings from its name at the top, or the desktop gear, then Journal > Group. Verify the group and tab before writing; do not substitute Global if Group is missing.

Will a group journal entry appear in one-on-one chats or Rooms?

Its documented journal recall scope excludes both, along with other groups. It applies to the owning group and its group calls. This describes journal retrieval, not every possible memory path.

Does a group journal use the same recall slots as my global journal?

No. Group, Global and individual journals have separate recall allocations, with tier-dependent per-message limits.

Does group-only journal recall prevent all conversation details from carrying over?

No. Separate long-term memory, Learned Context and short-term sharing controls affect conversation carryover. Keep the example fictional and inspect those controls; do not use Group journal scope as evidence of confidentiality.
