How to Set Up a Kindroid Room
Before inviting friends to a Kindroid Room, create the Room, define its rules, review your profile and each Kin's context, and check memory settings. Rehearse with fictional material, then issue a limited invitation. Confirm that friends understand their access and the shared audience before anyone brings private details into the conversation.
Before you begin: access and adult consent
Prepare with your own eligible account and friends who have agreed to the proposed activity.
Kindroid's Terms of Use require age 18 or the local age of majority, whichever is greater, and prohibit sharing login credentials. Invite friends through their own accounts; never lend yours to overcome access restrictions.
The Rooms documentation reserves creation and participation for subscribers; invited free users are read-only Viewers. Ask who wants to write and who wants to observe before planning an interactive session. Do not promise that an invitation supplies paid access.
Docs-only editorial evidence checked October 12, 2026; no hands-on Room test. Examples are our recommendations. Affiliate disclosure: no affiliate URL appears here; optional internal reviews follow the help.
1. Create a Room with a narrow purpose
Expected outcome: a recognizable Room with an agreed fictional premise, not an invitation already circulating.
Use New (+) > New Room. In General settings, separate description, rules and Room Context. These controls are documented in Rooms: setup and shared context.
Suggested name: 'Library mystery'. Description: 'Adult friends solve a fictional missing-book puzzle.' Rules: 'No real identities or intimate disclosures. Ask before changing tone. Stop means end the scene.' Context: 'The archivist has found an empty shelf.' Keep all characters adults and the first scene nonsexual.
Agree on rules outside Kindroid first, including screenshots and who handles boundary concerns. If someone declines, revise the premise or choose another activity.
2. Review profiles and each Kin's source context
Expected outcome: every introduction and selected source fits the audience you intend to invite.
Room bios are shared. Kins initially use Original Personality and Key Memories; Room-only alternatives are available. Hidden source fields can surface in replies, as Rooms: personality and privacy explains.
Check your display name, avatar and bio for employer names, contact details and relationship references. Suggested replacement: 'An adult puzzle enthusiast helping the archivist search the library.' Inspect generated introductions before accepting them.
Open Room settings > Memory > your Kin > Room context. Choose Room only Personality with an audience-safe role, such as offering clues when asked. Set Key Memories to Not used or reviewed Room only content. Ask friends to review their own Kins; you cannot browse their private sources.
3. Audit memory before any sensitive conversation
Expected outcome: you have deliberately reviewed context sources and memory controls as separate decisions.
The four Room controls start off: Memory Recall, Journal Recall, Share Short Term Memory and Form memories from this Room. They do not disable selected Personality or Key Memories. See Rooms: memory controls.
Keep these controls off for the first rehearsal. Each Kin owner should check their settings. Agree on what may be remembered before enabling continuity later.
The Memory documentation distinguishes formation from recall: a Kin's own switches still apply in Rooms. Journal recall and Learned Context have separate controls. Turning off general recall alone is therefore an incomplete checklist. Record the intended settings without copying private entries into a group message.
4. Rehearse a controlled first exchange
Expected outcome: one fictional exchange helps you judge tone and pacing before friends arrive.
Choose Manual AI reply style in General settings for deliberate turn-taking. Rooms: conversation modes documents selecting a Kin by its avatar.
Suggested prompt: 'We are adult fictional investigators. Offer one clue about the missing book, then wait. Keep the scene nonviolent and avoid personal questions.' Check whether the reply stays within the premise and leaves space for human contributions. Try the agreed stop phrase as a separate check.
One reply cannot certify privacy or future boundary adherence. On an unwanted disclosure, stop and review sources before inviting anyone. Written rules are expectations, not technical locks.
5. Prepare a bounded invitation
Expected outcome: a single-friend invitation with clear access expectations.
Only the Room owner can create and manage links in Room settings > Invites. For one friend, set Expires after to 1 hour and Maximum joins to 1. This counts one join, not opening the link; existing members do not count. See Rooms: invitations.
Tap Generate invite link and copy immediately: the full link cannot be displayed again after leaving or generating another. Send privately with the premise, rules and expected role; ask the friend not to forward it.
To disable it, tap the trash icon > Revoke invite. Revoking does not remove existing members. Check arrivals; pause on unfamiliar people. Join limits cannot verify identity.
6. Check privacy and payment before proceeding
Expected outcome: everyone understands the audience and any billing commitment without pressure to upgrade.
Room replies can reach future members, and previously formed memories may survive removal or deletion. See Rooms: sharing and privacy. Keep the rehearsal safe for a later arrival, not merely today's invitees. Read the legal page and Privacy Policy before submitting sensitive material.
The Subscriptions documentation says the three-day trial requires a payment method and converts automatically unless cancelled. Checkout determines country/platform pricing. Check the charge, renewal interval and cancellation route before confirming; this guide quotes no plan price or refund promise.
For web purchases, cancel at Profile > Billing > Kindroid Standard Subscription > Manage. Cancel Ultra and MAX separately under their own entries. For App Store or Google Play purchases, use that store's subscription settings. Do not upgrade to investigate missing controls.
Mistakes, limits and reasons to stop
Delay invitations when access, audience, source context or consent is uncertain.
Common mistakes include treating a bio as a complete context audit or a successful reply as a privacy test. Keep the rehearsal small.
Stop on unwanted disclosure, unclear payment prompts or a refused boundary. For missing controls, use Profile > Help > Contact support, as Rooms troubleshooting directs. Describe the environment and unexpected behavior with redacted evidence, not credentials or private transcripts.
Alternatively, plan the story in an ordinary friend chat or keep an outline outside the service. Choose an activity everyone can join willingly.
Summary: invite only after the rehearsal
Finish the checks before generating social momentum around the Room.
Agree on the premise, inspect profiles and sources, review memory, and try one controlled exchange. Then send a bounded invitation with clear access expectations. Leave the Room unshared when any of those checks is unresolved.
Frequently asked questions
What should my invitation message say besides the link?
Include the fictional premise, agreed boundaries, start time, expected observer or participant role, and a request not to forward the invitation. Ask for agreement before they join.
Should I use a real relationship as the first rehearsal?
Use invented adult characters and a low-stakes puzzle instead. A rehearsal should expose setup problems without exposing someone else's relationship or private history.
How should we handle a friend who wants to add another Kin?
Pause the scene and discuss the proposed role, audience-safe context and memory choices with that owner first. Keep the initial group small enough to review deliberately.
What should I save from the readiness check?
Keep a minimal checklist of agreed rules, intended settings and unresolved issues. Avoid saving intimate transcripts or claiming that the checklist certifies privacy or future AI behavior.
What should you compare next?
Once the answer is clear, use the relevant product reviews to compare fit, memory, media, privacy, price and cancellation terms before visiting a provider.
