How to Turn Off Kindroid Location Sharing and Remove Saved Places
To stop Kindroid location sharing everywhere, turn off the account switch in Profile > Preferences > Geolocation and each Kin's Location awareness under General. Delete unwanted Saved places separately, then reopen both settings to verify. Turning sharing off leaves saved places intact; it does not erase past conversations or make your account anonymous.
Before starting: use your existing account
This workflow is for adults who previously enabled location and now want to withdraw access, not set it up again.
Official sources checked October 18, 2026, including the chat-features page marked updated October 14. This is documentation-based guidance, not a signed-in, device or paid-account test. Expected outcomes below are checks for you to perform, not results we observed.
One Kin only: skip Step 1. In Step 2, turn off only that Kin's General > Location awareness. Skip Step 3 unless you separately want saved places removed, and skip global device/browser permission revocation in Step 5. Leave existing account permissions and other Kins' settings unchanged; never enable access for this workflow. Full account shutdown: follow Steps 1-5, removing unwanted places separately in Step 3.
Keep a private checklist of settings and completion dates without copying addresses. Avoid screenshots containing maps, coordinates or intimate chats. Affiliate disclosure: internal reviews may lead to affiliate offers; this article contains no direct affiliate links.
1. Turn off account geolocation
Expected outcome: the account-level Geolocation switch is off.
Open Profile > Preferences > Geolocation. After previous setup, its entry reads Open or shows a saved-place count. Enter that screen and turn its on/off switch off, following the official geolocation instructions.
Leave it off if already disabled. Do not press Update now, grant a fresh permission request, or enable location to prove that disabling works. If you see Set up instead of the expected existing controls, stop rather than starting setup. Check that you are signed into the intended account before treating the missing controls as evidence of anything.
2. Remove access for each relevant Kin
Expected outcome: Location awareness is off for every Kin you intend to exclude.
Open that Kindroid's settings > General > Location awareness and turn it off. The update log confirms separate account and per-AI enablement. For the all-off workflow, check every Kin you previously allowed, not just the conversation currently open.
For a one-Kin-only restriction, use that Kin's control without changing access for others you deliberately keep enabled. That narrower choice is not an account-wide stop. Write down which goal you chose so a later check does not confuse an intentional exception with an unfinished step.
3. Delete saved places separately
Expected outcome: each unwanted entry is absent from Saved places after removal.
On the Geolocation screen, open each unwanted entry under Saved places and use its deletion control. The help page documents opening a place to change or delete it, but does not specify the final deletion button or confirmation wording. Read the actual prompt before proceeding; do not substitute renaming for deletion.
Return to the list after each removal and check the entry is gone. Repeat for every place you no longer want stored. Do not add a dummy address for practice. If the list is inaccessible while sharing is off, keep it off and ask support how to remove existing entries without re-enabling collection; mark cleanup unresolved.
4. Verify the controls for your chosen goal
Expected outcome: for full shutdown, account and relevant per-Kin switches remain off. For one Kin only, that Kin's switch remains off and other access settings are unchanged. Separately deleted places remain absent.
For full shutdown, navigate away, reopen Geolocation, then revisit each relevant Kin's General > Location awareness. For one Kin only, reopen that Kin's control and inspect account and other Kins' settings without changing them. Check Saved places only if removal was intended. Compare results with your checklist; never re-enable access to test.
A conversational claim such as 'I cannot see you' is not settings evidence. Do not ask the AI to identify your current address as a test or supply that address yourself. Record contradictory states as unresolved, not passed. These interface checks document visible settings, not a network audit or proof that retained records were erased.
5. Review permissions and historical clues
Expected outcome: you separate disabled live sharing from remaining device permissions, stored information and conversation context.
For full shutdown, optionally deny Kindroid's location permission in device settings or the site's browser permissions while keeping account and per-Kin switches off. For one Kin only, skip this global revocation: it could also affect Kins you intend to keep sharing with. The checked pages do not supply a universal iOS, Android or browser permission path.
The privacy policy lists IP-address-based location separately from optional device location and saved places. Disabling the feature is not an IP-hiding or anonymity control. The policy also describes chat retention and exceptions to retention limits; removing a map entry is not a guarantee of complete deletion.
If a city resurfaces, review what you previously typed and any editable context you can access, rather than assuming fresh GPS collection. Avoid repeating the real address while correcting it. Treat editing context as a separate task with its own limits, not as proof that all earlier copies disappeared.
Limits, stopping points and payment checks
Stop when controls are missing or contradictory; do not buy access or restart location collection to troubleshoot privacy.
The update log says V1 retired October 1 and V2 is now the only interface. Do not follow an old beta-switching tutorial. The checked geolocation instructions do not establish a platform-by-platform availability matrix or subscription requirement. Missing controls do not prove you need an upgrade.
Use the in-app help center or the Help Ticket route described in the update log. Report your platform, app/browser version, missing label and unresolved step. Redact maps and personal content; never send passwords, verification codes or full payment details. While waiting, follow your chosen scope; pause use if uncertainty is unacceptable rather than changing other Kins' access.
No price is asserted here. If independently considering a subscription, check its displayed total, renewal period and cancellation route first. Privacy controls are not billing confirmations: verify any intended cancellation separately. For broader deletion questions, use the privacy-policy contact route without assuming instant erasure or a guaranteed outcome.
Frequently asked questions
Does turning Kindroid geolocation off remove saved places?
No. The documented account switch leaves places saved. If removal is also intended, complete that separate step and check the list afterward. An off switch alone does not establish deletion.
Can I disable location awareness for just one Kin?
Yes. Use that Kin's General > Location awareness control. Decide whether you want a one-Kin exception or an account-wide stop; record that choice before checking completion.
Is background location collection documented for Kindroid?
Kindroid says location is read only while you use the app, never in the background. This is the provider's documented behavior, not an independent device test or a statement about every category of data collection.
Why might my city still appear after location sharing is off?
Possible explanations include earlier conversation details, saved context or a generated guess. IP-derived location is also separately listed in the privacy policy, but that does not prove it caused a particular reply. Check settings and context rather than treating the reply as a tracking diagnosis.
What should you compare next?
